Izki Fortress attracts many tourists

MUSCAT — The Wilayat of Izki has many tourist attractions due to its unique diversity of archaeological sites, castles, forts, towers and old houses and alleys which highlight the interests of the Omani heritage and its customs and traditions.
The Izki Fortress is the most prominent archaeological monument and is one of the most famous forts in the Sultanate which was built during the reign of Sultan Said bin Sultan. It is located in Alenzar village. The Izki Fortress is one of the three biggest forts in the country and is characterised by the greatness of its construction and wonderful engineering work. It sits on a high mountain and makes it a 1340822189715013000 wonderful tourist landmark in the wilayat.
The Izki Fortress has a strategic location which oversees green farms and orchards such as palm trees and other vegetation. Furthermore, it is characterised by high towers located in each corner of the angles that reveals the whole region.
The fortress is surrounded by the great wall and made by mud bricks. There are many facilities in the fortress including the room of the Imam, mosque, an education school, deep wells and some prisons.
Also, there are some parts of the fortress have been destroyed by the passage of time and erosion. Therefore, is considering as one of the most prominent tourist attractions in the Wilayat of Izki.
