Co-operation with British army officer discussedMon, 30 July 2012
![]() MUSCAT — Gen Sultan bin Mohammed al Numani, Minister of the Royal Office, received in his office here yesterday Gen Sir Peter Wall, Chief of the General Staff in the United Kingdom (UK) and Head of the British Army within the framework of his current visit to the Sultanate. Gen Al Numani welcomed the guest who expressed his delight for visiting the Sultanate. During the meeting, cordial conversations were exchanged and topics of common concern to the two friendly countries were discussed. The meeting also reviewed the march of good bilateral relations binding the Sultanate and the friendly UK and means of enhancing them in all spheres to achieve the joint interests, besides touching on issues of common concern. Sayyid Badr bin Saud al Busaidy, Minister Responsible for Defence Affairs, also received in his office at Mu’askar Bait al Falaj here yesterday Gen Sir Peter Wall. The meeting reviewed fields of the existing military co-operation between the two friendly countries, particularly what is related to the co-operation between the Royal Army of Oman (RAO) and the British Army. Lt Gen Ahmed bin Harith al Nabhani, Chief of Staff of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), and Maj Gen Said bin Nasser bin Sulaiman al Salmi, Commander of the Royal Army of Oman (RAO), also received Gen Sir Peter Wall. During his meeting with the SAF Chief of Staff, the meeting reviewed various aspects of the existing co-operation and exchanged viewpoints, as well as discussing a number of matters of common concern. During the meeting with the RAO Commander, the British guest expressed his delight for this visit, which will contribute in promoting the level of co-operation in the joint fields. The two sides reviewed fields of the military co-operation, which would serve RAO and the British Army and means of enhancing them, besides exchanging viewpoints on matters of common concern. The meeting was attended by RAO Command’s senior officers, the Military Attaché at the UK Embassy in Muscat and the delegation accompanying the guest. — ONA |
