ROP warns against fire accidents

MUSCAT — The Royal Oman Police (ROP) warns against the ever present risk of fire accidents in different locations, particularly during summer season. This time the ROP’s advisory addresses housewives. The tips cover guidelines about fire safety in the household, with emphasis on handling fires in the kitchen, fire appliances and the garbage bin. TIPS: In the event of the cooking pan catching fire, close the gas cylinder valve; cover the pan with a blanket or wet cloth; keep away from the pan.

When gas leaks, close the cylinder valve; open the doors 1344001809323283100 and windows; don’t switch on electrical buttons; leave the area which is filled with gas; always change the gas hose. If fire starts in a rubbish bin, cover the bin quickly with a blanket or wet cloth; use a fire extinguisher to manually put out the fire but without directly the froth/spray at the flame.
In the event of an electrical appliance catching fire, switch off the main key; use a fire extinguisher to put out the fire; do not use water to put out the fire because water is a good conductor of electricity; remove combustible materials from the area; do not use the system again before repair; always keep space around electrical appliances like fridges and TV sets.
