MUSCAT — The Ministry of Social Development yesterday received a cheque for RO 186,000 from Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO). The cheque was received by Shaikh Mohammed bin Said al Kalbani, Minister of Social Development, from Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed al Saeedi, Minister of Legal Affairs and OCO Board's Chairman. Shaikh Al Kalbani said OCO has always supported social security categories sponsored by the ministry and assisted by various associations and centres that are affiliated to or supervised by the ministry.
He added that everyone realises the need to help eligible families with cash, food or other subsidies, during Ramadhan to foster co-operation, togetherness and friendship. Ali bin Ibrahim al Raeesi, Chief Executive Officer of OCO, said that OCO has been providing such support to the Ministry of Social Development for community development since its inception 12 years ago.
Beneficiaries of this donation are all Al Wafa Centres for Qualifying the Handicapped Children (RO 21,000), the Early Intervention Association (RO 1,000), eight handicapped children care centres (RO 1,000 each), Oman Association for Disabled — Muscat Branch (RO 1,000), Oman Association for Disabled — Sohar Branch (RO 1,000), four centres of Al Noor Association for the Blind in Muscat, Dhofar, Nizwa and Sohar (RO 1,000 each) along with RO 150,000 for cases benefiting from social security regulation. — ONA
