Mon, 13 August 2012

MUSCAT — Pre-Eid souqs called habta began in various parts of the Sultanate in the run-up to Eid al Fitr next week. In the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid, the first habta was held at Al Khaldiya at the marketplace known as Souq Al Ithnain. The habta of Wadi Bani Khalid witnessed a large turnout of buyers and merchants. The items in display ranged from sweets to gifts and livestock offered for sale. The prices of sheep touched record high RO 200 a head. In the same wilayat, another habta, that of Al Hujra, will be held today in the same marketplace. — ONA
