Ties with Australia reviewed

MUSCAT — Quentin Bryce, Governor-General of Australia, and her husband Michael Bryce arrived here yesterday on a 3-day private visit to the Sultanate during which she will meet with His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.
She and her accompanying delegation were received upon arrival at the Royal Airport by HH Sayyid Asaad bin Tareq al Said, Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed bin Nasser bin Hamad al Mehrzi, Minister of Tourism and Neil Hawkins, appointed and non-resident ambassador of Australia to the Sultanate.
Quentin Bryce was received in her residence at Al Bustan Palace Hotel by Yusuf bin Alawi, on the sidelines of her visit. The meeting reviewed fields of the existing 1346771329600568200 bilateral co-operation between the two friendly countries and means of promoting them, in addition to exchanging views on the international and regional issues of common concern.
Quentin Bryce also visited Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Bausher within the framework of her current visit. She was received by officials of Sultan Qaboos Centre for Islamic Culture (SQCIC) who briefed her on the construction history of the mosque. She familiarised herself with the mosque designs which combine the Omani and Islamic Architecture.
She also acquainted herself with various centres of the mosque, such as Institute of Islamic Science, the library and the lecture hall, as well as the great role of the mosque in explaining the tolerance message of Islam. — ONA
