OUTLOOK — By Sausan Al Busaidiya — Dr Mohammed al Araifi, a Saudi researcher in religious affairs, says in his book Enjoy your life: “When I was 16 years old, I read a book written by the author Dale Carnegie named How to Win Friends and Influence People. The book made for an excellent reading experience and I read it so many times over. The author had suggested that the person should re-read the book every month. I did so and I applied all the rules mentioned in my dealings with people after which I felt a huge difference.”
Carnegie’s style of writing was marvellous as he mentioned the rule along with an example to clarify the idea. He mentioned some notable successful people from his time like Roosevelt, Lincoln, Mike and Joseph. I searched in our history and I found that Prophet Muhammad and his companions were the best examples ever so I decided to write this book on how to influence people.
This book is not the fruit of a month or a year. I worked on writing this book for about 20 years. I am grateful to Allah that He guided me to write so many books but I love this particular book more than the others as I believe it is the most useful of all.”
“I wrote this book from my heart to directly reach the hearts of people and I would be really happy when I know that people make use of it to develop their skills and I will thank them greatly if they pass the book to someone else so that they may gain from the same useful experience,” Al Araifi said.
Dr Mohammed said that he liked a phrase that his son once said, although I believe that at that age he would not have realised what it meant. The phrase says: “Don’t give any concern to people’s criticism.” I focused on people’s attitude towards me. Some of them really wanted me to change a bad behaviour but some throw in criticism about jealousy and envy. These are the people who look at life through dark black glasses.
The book contains so many valuable advice and directives that could make us rich in life. I advise all interested people to read this book to feel the change and taste the wonderful life.
