MUSCAT — His Majesty Sultan Qaboos conferred the Sultan Qaboos Order for Culture, Science and Arts (First Class) on Sir Tim Berners-Lee, founder and inventor of the Web (www).
The order was presented to Sir Tim Berners-Lee by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, when he received him at his office here yesterday. The meeting was also attended by Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of the Information Technology Authority (ITA) Board.
Meanwhile, Sir Tim Berners-Lee will present a lecture at the Sultan Qaboos University Cultural Centre today at 10.30 am.
The topic of his lecture will be: How different would the world be today without the invention of the World Wide Web (www). — ONA
