Sasthra Pratibha Awards to be presented at ‘Science India Fiesta’ on April 25

MUSCAT — The Science India Fiesta 2013 Award giving ceremony will be held during a two-day celebrations on April 25, and 26 at Hotel Al Falaj, Muscat. The Sastra Pratibha Contest was conducted on October 18, 2012 in which over 4,000 students from 17 Indian Schools registered. Around 3,500 students appeared for the test.
The students who emerged winners are: Kirtan Sudhakar, Class V, Indian School, Salalah, Anishkumar, Class VI, Indian School, Al Ghubra, Aliva Das, Class VII, Indian School, Muscat, Aerathedath Mathew Jomy, Class VIII, Indian School, Jalan, Anubhav Dasgupta, Class IX, Indian School, Al Wadi al Kabir, Helena Jabeen, Class IX, Indian School, Muladha and Archana C M, Class X, Indian School, Sohar
The contest was held for the students of standards 5 to 10. Toppers from each class is selected as Sasthra Pratibhas. This time, for Class IX, there are two students sharing the same marks. So, total 7 students are selected as Sasthra Pratibhas, as follows. More than 150 students also won A+ and A grades. The awards will have a cash price of RO 150 to the Sastra Pratibha winners.
Science India Forum has congratulated and thank the school authorities, principals and teachers and all contestants for the successful conductance of the competitions. At the award ceremony world renowned agricultural scientist, Prof (Dr) M S Swaminathan will be the chief guest. The focal theme will be Agriculture Development for the next decade — Research and Planning.

Padmabushan Dr Vijay Bhatkar, eminent computer scientist and president, Vijnan Bharati will also attend the ceremony and will speak on “The National Year of Mathmatics”. All the winners of various competitions, debate, digital symposium, science skit, science quiz and science exhibitions will be given prizes and certificates during the function.

SIF is working under the patronage of the Indian Embassy in Oman and in close association with Vigyan Bharati India for the promotion and popularisation of Science among the students of Indian Schools in Oman. The objective is to create scientific fervour among the students at younger age and also make science popular amongst the new generation so as to motivate them to take up the pursuit of science and research.
