Prophet’s Ascension holiday on Saturday

MUSCAT — Sayyid Ali bin Hamoud al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of the Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council, has issued a decision declaring Saturday the 27th of Rajab, 1431 AH, corresponding to July 10, 2010, as an official holiday for employees at ministries, public authorities and other government departments on the occasion of the blessed anniversary of Al Israa W’al Miraj, Prophet Mohammed’s Ascension anniversary.
The minister extended his heartfelt greetings to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on the occasion, praying to the Almighty to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and a long life.
He wished the Omani people further progress and prosperity and the Muslim world bounty and peace.
On the same occasion, Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri, Minister of Manpower, issued a ministerial decision declaring Saturday July 10, 2010 as an official holiday for employees at private sector establishments.
Work will resume on Sunday July 11, 2010. The decision allows employers and employees to agree, if necessity arises, to continue working and compensate this holiday later.
The private sector’s employees extend their sincere greetings and best wishes to His Majesty Sultan Qaboos on the blessed occasion, praying to the Almighty to protect His Majesty, grant him good health, happiness and a long life.
