MUSCAT — Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of Majlis Addawla, received here yesterday Senator Philippe Marini, Head of the French, Saudi and GCC States Friendship Association, who is currently visiting the Sultanate.
Dr Al Mantheri commended the good relations that link the two friendly countries.
He stressed the importance of such meetings and promoting fields of bilateral co-operation and issues of common concern.
The French Senator expressed his delight at the visit and the opportunity it availed to meet with officials in the Sultanate. He also hailed the progress being witnessed in the country under the wise leadership of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos.
The meeting was attended by the French ambassador accredited to the Sultanate.
*Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Isa’ee, Chairman of Majlis Ash’shura, received in his office here yesterday Senator Philippe Marini within the framework of his current visit to the Sultanate.
During the meeting, Al
Isa’ee welcomed the guest and commended the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, which date back to the 17th century and their progress in diplomatic, economic and cultural areas.
He also affirmed that the Sultanate of Oman welcomed friends and it also seeks to exchange viewpoints on issues of common concern.
Al Isa’ee also stressed the importance of the role that can be played by France within the framework of the European Union (EU) particularly in the Palestinian cause.
Senator Philippe Marini valued the level of the Omani-French relations and the progress they reached in all spheres.
He also highlighted the French stand towards the Arab issues. The meeting was attended by the French ambassador to the Sultanate. — ONA
