Horse race concludes in Barka

BARKA — The final horse race for 2009/2010 season concluded at the camel and horse race track in the Wilayat of Barka yesterday.
It was organised by the Royal Horse Racing Club in implementation of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos’ grant and orders to conserve and promote Omani horse racing heritage.
The five round race was held under the auspices of Shaikh Mohammed bin Abdullah al Harthy, Minister of Civil Service, and attended by ministers, members of the two 1270145087578391600 majlises, under-secretaries, shaikhs, dignitaries and horse racing aficionados.
The first round named ‘Seih al Masarrat’ (1,600 metres) and designated for local pure Arabian horses was won by Kayan owned by Ali bin Musabbah al Maamri and its rider was Amor bin Salim al Hajjri, the second ‘Seih al Barakat’(1,600 metres) for thoroughbreds by La Varon owned by Mohammed bin Nassir al Uraimi and the rider was Amor bin Salim al Ghunaimi, the third ‘Seih al Khayrat”(1,200 metres) for pure 1270145204108433500 Arabian won by Miss Patrali owned by Mohammed bin Saad al Mukhani and its rider was Mohammed Nahid Alam, the fourth, ‘Seih al Taybat’(1,200 metres) for women riders and pure Arabian was won by Bashusha owned the Royal Cavalry and its rider was Azhar bint Saif al Wardiya, the fifth and last elite cup round ‘Seih al Hasanat (2,000 metres) was won by Dorki Lotis owned by Saad Suhail al Mukhaini and its rider was Mohammed bin Badr al Hajri.
On the side lines of the race, equestrian shows were performed by Royal Cavalry riders. The 1st Royal Cavalry Band played lively pieces.
A French expert invited by the Royal Equestrian Racing Club attended the event. — ONA
