Photography Week at SQU unravels ‘revolution of light’

The Photography Society at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) recently held its ‘15th Week’ at SQU exhibition hall under the theme ‘Revolution of Light’.
The main event in the programme was a photo exhibition with over 70 pictures — from natural scenes to portraits. The pictures were taken by 34 photographers. Members of the TV Department also participated by screening short films with constructive social message.
Khalid al Abri, head of the Photography Group, said: “This year we selected the pictures with high level of excellence and varied themes. Among the exhibits were also aerial pictures and abstract works.”
A short film entitled ‘Follow Your Sense’ was produced by the TV club members. It revolves round a child seeking happiness. His pursuit goes on through his youth years and he becomes a world renowned photographer with many awards to credit. For him that was the true happiness.
Balqees al Saqri, head of the TV club, said that with a wide-range of items on display this year’s event had a profound impact on the visitors. In the TV Department we applied new filming techniques such as Time Lapse, Stop Motion, Freeze Time.”
She added that the members benefited greatly from this participation and displayed impressive works.
The event also saw the Photography Society launching its website www.photosqu.com which as a forum was designed to bring together photography lovers to share their experiences and display their artworks.
