MUSCAT — Comex 2012 — IT, Telecom and Technology Show and Conference will open on Monday at Oman International Exhibition Centre. The five-day expo is organised by Oman International Trade and Exhibitions Company in association with Information Technology Authority under the motto “Towards Innovation in IT and Communications".
The opening ceremony will be presided over by Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed al Futaisi, Minister of Transport and Communications, and in the presence of a number of ministers and officials from public and private sectors.
Thirty government establishments will participate in Comex 2012, in addition to participation of government establishments from UAE, Kuwait, Estonia, Singapore and Lithuania besides 130 local and international IT and communication companies which will showcase over 225 trademarks.
The participating companies will showcase various products and innovative solutions in IT and communications, in addition to providing opportunities to enhance business, investment and interaction with counterpart companies, trade partners and visitors.
The exhibition is divided into two parts: the first deals with services that will be presented by government establishments and participating bodies which will enlighten visitors on important electronic services that aim at facilitating and easing the citizens' daily procedures. The second part is the shopping section in which the latest consumer electronic technologies, equipment and apparatus will be shown.
There will be an international conference on the sidelines of the exhibition that will kick off on Tuesday at Golden Tulip Hotel under the motto "Developing national human resources through latest technologies, trends and best practices".
The conference will show the opportunities made feasible by digital technologies, particularly for IT and communication specialists. The conference will focus on ways of supporting and developing small and medium enterprises specialised in digital technology and the active utilisation of IT and communication to develop human resources, education and supporting small and medium enterprises.
The two-day conference will discuss three major themes developing national human resources through latest technologies, best practices and trends, advancing the skills and training development using IT and communication and technology and infrastructure for the growth of small and medium enterprises.
