Bank Sohar recently organised a two-day training course on presentation skills & public speaking for the branch managers and a number of its managers working in the Emerging Corporate Banking Department.
The training course was held at Bank Sohar’s Learning Center in Al Qurrum with an objective of enhancing skills of the managers in dealing with Bank’s customers and to excel in marketing its products and services to the public.
Fifteen managers participated in the intensive training course. National Training Institute (NTI), conducted the training session, the programme focused on enhancing the participants’ skills and knowledge to enable them to conduct lectures to bank’s officials and customers with confidence.
Commenting on the importance of the training course, Munira Abdulnabi Macki, DGM-Human Resources & Corporate Support said: “Since its inception, Bank Sohar has made concerted efforts to provide training for its staff, especially those working in Retail units of the branches, who on a daily basis interact and communicate with customers about the Bank’s unique products and services.”

The course focused on preparation, presentation, and public speaking skills. In addition, it focused on a number of issues such as the concept of public speaking and its importance in past and present, the basic criteria that must be taken into account as objectives, type of target audience, location, time set for the lecture, the content, and means used at the presentation as well as the importance of using verbal and non-verbal communication tools.
Participants were imparted skills that would enable them to overcome obstacles such as fear, nervousness, stuttering and using low voice during public speaking and presentations. The programme also included practical sessions, where the participants were able to use techniques at the training course for conducting short lectures. At the conclusion of the course, participants were presented with certificates.
