Sun, 06 May 2012

GAZA — Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO) began to carry out educational and health projects comprising five schools and five health clinics in Gaza Strip. In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Ali bin Ibrahim al Raeesi, OCO Chief Executive Officer, said that OCO’s project is part of a 10-stage scheme aimed at constructing five secondary education schools and five integrated health centres (4th and 3rd levels).

The initiative comes within the context of the Sultanate’s full support for the Palestinian people, said Al Ra’eesi, adding that OCO will continue to carry out the scheme in stages in a show of solidarity with the Palestinians who are in great need for such services. In turn, Dr Abdullah Abu Samhdana, Member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah Movement and Governor of Al Wusta Region, said that an agreement has been made with OCO to immediately start building five schools and five clinics in different governorates in Gaza Strip.

In a statement to ONA, Dr Samhdana said that the Omani delegation vowed to study a number of projects that contribute to enhancing the resistance of the Palestinians in Gaza Strip. He pointed out that OCO has promised to build a college in Al Azhar University, Gaza affiliate, alongside many other electricity, water and sanitary projects.
Dr Samhdana valued the Sultanate’s fraternal support for the Palestinians in Gaza Strip. He made the statement during a meeting at his office here yesterday with the Omani delegation.
Recently, OCO in co-ordination with the Sultanate’s Embassy in Egypt has sent a shipment of medical aid to Gaza Strip within the framework of the Sultanate’s efforts to lessen the blockade on Palestinian brothers. — ONA
