MUSCAT — The Royal Oman Police (ROP) yesterday signed an agreement for implementing the new electronic visa system.
The agreement was signed by Ali bin Masoud al Sunaidy, Commerce and Industry Minister and ITA Board Chairman, while Lt Gen Hassan bin Mohsin al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, and by the General Manager of the executing company Australian SITA Corporation.
The project aims at facilitating the work of businessmen, visitors and tourists by setting up high quality efficient and modern system that ensures the streamlining of procedures for the issuance of visas and residence permits for foreigners.
The system also facilitates the entry and exit procedures through the legal check points and ensures easy sharing of information with the respective departments.
After signing the agreement, Al Sunaidy said that the agreement comes in line with the government’s trending in e-government and its endeavours to open wider scopes for the business and tourism sector in the Sultanate. He hailed the efforts made by the ROP in the field of providing electronic services. — ONA
