Abdulaziz Al Jahdhami -
SUMMER is usually the time of warmth and sunny weather; you might disagree with me because summer in Oman is a disliked season for many. The burning heat of the sun annoys some people and they wish never to go out of the cooling comfort inside the house. It is indeed during such uncomfortable weather condition you feel distressed and irritated sometimes.
To overcome this displeasing weather with the summer heat, people have different ways to beat the burning heat of this time of the year. Some people tend to travel to other tourist destinations around the world where the weather is more pleasant and refreshing. They prefer to spend their summer vacation abroad in a bid to escape the hot weather in the country at the first place and to enjoy their time and entertain themselves.
However, some people could cope with the summer heat in a very distinctive way; the like of those spending their time in some local tourist spots in different wilayats within the country itself. These people prefer internal tourism and spend their holiday and leisure time inside the country. The Sultanate in general is bestowed with varied topography and diverse climate throughout the year. This is the basis of the country’s environmental diversity and various natural richness ranging from charming beaches, golden sands and deserts, ample green oases and rocky mountains.
Such natural attractions mark remarkable relaxing spots where visitors can enjoy the striking scenes of nature. Wadis are the most popular places to be approached for relaxation during the summer time due to their chilling weather besides the running fresh water and crystal pools. At this particular season, wadis flourish with charming oasis of water and greenery.
It is said that the perfect summer day is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing and the birds are singing. In any of the natural tourist places in Oman such as in the beautiful wadis and valleys with greenery and flowing fresh water such a lively day be experienced.
Due to the Sultanate’s climatic variety and its unique location in the Arabian Peninsula, it is gifted with a rich biodiversity. We need to take advantage of the breathtaking panoramic landscapes and enjoy the best natural wonders offered by the Omani environment.
Summer is coming and it's time to think of ways to beat the heat. But summer is also the time for vacations and most people tend to spend a lot of time outdoors. I believe everyone needs a kind of rest and to chill out and summer is the perfect time for this. Lying on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water or watching the clouds float across the sky, is never a waste of time.
As the summer is just starting; the weather is getting hotter, you should make your plan to visit any of the wonderful tourist places in the Sultanate. You can sacrifice one weekend to spend a day-long picnic with your friends or family in a place away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Have a chilly and joyful summer!
