MUSCAT — As part of its Silver Jubilee celebrations, the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) yesterday hosted a number of commanders, senior officers and personnel at the Ministry of Defence, the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF), the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO), the Royal Oman Police (ROP) and other security apparatuses.
Her Highness Sayyidah Dr Muna bint Fahd al Said, Assistant Vice-Chancellor of SQU for External Cooperation, welcomed the guests and gave them an overview of the University, its colleges and centres.
She pointed out that more than 32,000 students have graduated from SQU and that the university hosts now more than 15,000 students.
She pointed out that the promotion of scientific research at SQU has earned it a local, regional and international status.
The number of approved research projects at the university now stands at more than 1420. The strategic researches are funded by the Royal grant.
After a speech by one of the SQU graduates, the guests toured the exhibition displaying different activities of colleges, centres and researches by the University. — ONA
