The secret of life

OUTLOOK — By Mohammed Al Rahbi — Among us there are many people who see nothing but the black book of evil which doesn’t even realise what is goodness.Unfortunately, such kind of people will surrender to depression and ironically, they will be waiting for life to smile to them and bring them luck.
On the other hand, there are a few others who realise the feeling of happiness through their regular simile. Those people allow us realise the beauty of the world around us; even when they are in a hard time, they spread nothing to others but optimism. They are always like that supporting us with another dose of strength to continue our life with a sense of joy. They also exchange a smile with us which we really need to stretch the muscles of our faces in a bid to make them brighter and healthier. All this is reflected on our hearts.
When you sit with any of those people of the first kind, you will see them crying over the spilt milk of their past life. They are always cursing their life and criticising all the past days during their lifetime. They waste their capabilities by crying and ignoring the future which they don’t even give it a chance to emerge. In fact, those people are making more obstacles and blocking their ways.
I wrote quite a lot about all these ideas, but I didn’t know that there is an outstanding book narrating them in a very insightful way. This book, The Secret, attributes that goodness is available in all holy books, but evil is only made by human beings themselves. The Secret is written by Rhonda Byrne and its publishers wanted guarantee that it is widely published all over the world and it deserves reaching those who look at life with hatred. However, Allah bestowed them with many blessings which deserve to be thought about and appreciated. Thus, all their blessings will positively bring goodness and comfort to those people. In this book, I read about the Islamic soul for goodness; the holy message which calls for love and emphasises on the facts that one who plants thorn will not harvest flower and who carries fire might be burned. Therefore, the secret is hidden in our souls; it is a great blessing bestowed to all people by Allah, but we ignore the real message behind it. We always complain day and night about our inconvenient circumstances. There is a statement indicating that if someone got enough food with a house to live in, you are far better than about three quarters of the number of people on Earth.
The Secret believes in the concept: Think of goodness and it will reach you and think of evil and it will attack you. In other words, the human being is a result of what he thinks about. Do the rich people think only about money? On the other hand, the poor who has debts thinks only about debts and as a result he gets more debts?
If this is the case, it looks stupid and illogical; however reading this book encourages us to deny all such thoughts in our minds. All the ideas of this book are supported by our religion, thus they are not strange or western-based concepts as long as they call to revive the spirit and motivate human beings. They also encourage people to strive and overcome their health, economic and psychological obstacles.
The secret is a combination of ideas proposed by scholars and other great people who have ample experience in life. Martin Luther King said: “Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase”. Also James Ray commented on the advantage of saying “Al Hamdu Lellah” which means thanking Allah. He noted that while saying this statement I always think of all the blessings given to me by Allah.
I wonder how many times we should thank Allah for the great blessings in our country!
We must stop thinking of what others have; we should think of all the blessings which we have and there are many which we don’t realise. There are millions of people in the world lacking such great blessings of heath, food, education and many others. Greed and ungratefulness leads to disappearance of goodness from our life.
