Oman to attend GCC, intl labour meets

MUSCAT — Sultanate, represented by the Manpower Ministry, will participate in the technical meeting of GCC Labour and Social Affairs Ministries Under-Secretaries to be held in Saudi Arabia on May 20 and 21. The meeting will review the experiences and initiatives of the council states in regulating the labour market.

The Sultanate’s delegation to the meeting is headed by Hamad bin Khamis al A’mri, Manpower Ministry Under-Secretary for Labour Affairs. The Ministry will also participate in the meeting of the technical working group to study social protection to be held in Bahrain today and organised by the Executive Bureau of the GCC Council of Ministers of Labour.

The Ministry will also participate in a workshop entitled “the occupational safety and health management in enterprises, organised by the International Labour Organization in Italy from June 4 to 15. The Sultanate will also participate in the 18th Conference of the GCC e-Government and e-Services to be hosted by the UAE during from May 19 to 23 which comes under the title “the best e-achievements and e-successes” organised by the Middle East Excellence Award Institute (datamatix 2012). — ONA
