Oman ice-hockey team for GCC eventWed, 23 May 2012
![]() MUSCAT — Oman ice-hockey team will leave for Abu Dhabi on Saturday to participate in the second GCC Ice-Hockey Championship. The four-team championship, which concludes on June 2, will also see the participation of the hosts UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait. According to Oman team manager Qasim bin Talib al Burai, the Sultanate squad have been undergoing rigourous training sessions under the watchful eyes of coach Inad al Balushi at Qurm Park Fun Zone skating rink for the last four months and they are now eagerly looking forward for the Abu Dhabi championship. Qasim al Burai said: “Our preparations started back in February and since then the boys have been training thrice a week. The team are in confident in mood and looking forward to achieve good results.” During their preparations, the Omanis two friendlies with Canadians in Oman and they also played a friendly against Al Ain ice hockey team in the UAE. The Omani delegation to Abu Dhabi will be led by Jihad bin Abdullah al Shaikh and Abdullah al Sulaimi will accompany the team as administrator. Oman team: Khalid Ramadhan, Ibrahim al Jilindani, Ibrahim al Ghabishi, Dawood al Ghabishi, Ahmed al Lawati, Ahmed al Qatami, Saud al Aufi, Talal Ambusaidi, Talal al Burai, Mohannad al Balushi, Muath al Siyabi, Suhail al Ghaithi, Hadi Abdulaziz al Zubair, Ibrahim al Ahmadi. |
