Agreements to train citizens in various activities

MUSCAT — Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasir al Bakri, Manpower Minister, yesterday signed 14 agreements for the training of national manpower at the private training institutions at a cost of more than RO 1.5 million. The agreements include the training of 513 nationals in sales, machine operation, vocational health and safety, ship engineering basics, heavy equipment operation and other fields.

The agreements comes within the plans of the Manpower Ministry to provide to the needs of the labour market. The agreements aim at providing youths with the basic skills for the different jobs at the private sector. Dr Muna bint Salim al Jardaniyah, Undersecretary of the Manpower Ministry for Technical Education and Vocational Training, said that the agreements come in a bid by the Ministry to increase the Omanization rate in the private sector and provide Omani youths with the opportunity to take over the different jobs at the private sector.

She invited the trainees, the private training institutions and the companies to make the optimum benefit of the courses. The Manpower Minister also signed an agreement with Al Shamilah Trading Company for the extension of the building of the Directorate-General of Manpower in Dhofar Governorate together with facilities at a cost of more than RO 500,000.

The agreement work includes extension of the building including the construction works with all services for the building, updating the fire-fighting system for the whole building, construction of parks and sunshades, in addition to the associated works. — ONA
