Govt sector on June 16, 17 (Sat, Sun) — Private sector on June 16 (Saturday) — MUSCAT — On the occasion of Prophet Mohammed’s Ascension anniversary and as per the Royal orders of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos, government departments, public authorities and other units of the State’s Administrative Apparatus will remain closed on June 16 and 17, 2012 (26th and 27 Rajab, 1433 AH).
Work will resume on Monday, June 18, according to a decision issued here yesterday by Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal al Busaidy, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court and Chairman of the Civil Service Council.
The Minister extended his greetings to His Majesty the Sultan on this occasion, praying to the Almighty to protect him with His divine care and grant him continuous good health, happiness and a long life.
He wished the Omani people further progress and prosperity Muslims all over the world peace, bounties and blessings.
Meanwhile, Manpower Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Nasser al Bakri issued a ministerial decision declaring Saturday, June 16 an official holiday for employees at the private sector companies and establishments.
Work will be resumed on Sunday, June 17, 2012.
The decision allows employers and employees to agree on arrangements to continue working, if necessity arises, and compensate the holiday later.
The decision stresses that workers whose weekly offs fall on that day should also be compensated.
The private sector’s employees extended their heartfelt greetings and best wishes to His Majesty the Sultan on this blessed occasion, praying to the Almighty to grant him good health, happiness and a long life and the Omani people and Muslims all over the world further progress and prosperity. — ONA
