Blast hits PakistanSun, 17 June 2012
ISLAMABAD — At least 25 people were killed and more than 50 injured yesterday in a bomb attack in Pakistan’s north-western region near the Afghan border, officials said. The incident occurred in Landi Kotal Bazar of Khyber. “Our ambulances have shifted 18 bodies to Landi Kotal Hospital and seven to the Hayat Medical Complex,” paramedic Mujahid Khan said. “Around 57 people have also been injured including eight security personnel.” An official said that the bomb was planted in a pickup truck. He said some of the dead belonged to the Zakha Khel tribe, which has supported government forces fighting Taliban in the area. No group took responsibility. Nato supply routes for troops in Afghanistan passed through the area before Pakistan blocked them six months ago. — DPA |
