Omani-Algeria joint committee’s session begins

ALGIERS — The sixth session of the Omani-Algerian Joint Committee started yesterday in Algeria. The Sultanate is participating in the session with a delegation representing various Government sectors, led by Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, while the Algerian side was led by the Minister for Foreign Affairs Mourad Medelci, a number of advisers in the Ministry and representatives of the government sectors in Algeria.

MUSCAT — The State Council yesterday held its regular session under the chairmanship of Dr Yahya bin Mahfoudh al Mantheri, Chairman of the State Council. After detailed discussions of the items listed on the agenda, the session came out with the following decisions: — Approving the memorandum of the Council's Office on the proposal of the Culture and Media Committee's desire to set up a comprehensive media policy for youth.

Oman declared free of AHS

MUSCAT — The Sultanate was announced free from the African Horse Sickness (AHS) at the 41st session of the General Assembly of World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) which was held in the French capital Paris, recently. The AHS infection is a deadly disease that can prevent horses from participating in international races. Movement or importation from countries with cases of African Horse Sickness, is banned.

Sultanate, Slovakia seek to expand co-operation

BRATISLAVA — A session of political consultations was held at the Slovak capital, Bratislava, yesterday between the Foreign Ministries of the Sultanate and the Republic of Slovakia. The Omani side at the talk was chaired by Ahmed bin Yousef al Harthy, Under-Secretary of the Foreign Ministry for Diplomatic Affairs, while the Slovak side was chaired by Peter Burian, Slovak Deputy Foreign Minister.

Survey to recognise youth aspirations

By Zainab al Naseri — MUSCAT — The National Committee of Youths (NCY) will conduct a survey to acknowledge youth aspirations in the Musandam Governorate between June 21 and 30. The programme includes discussion sessions and other activities in all the wilayats of Musandam. In Khasabm there will be a questionnaire session, exhibition for talents and innovations, and women activity. In Daba, there will be another questionnaire session and activity of traditional art. In Madha, workshop will be held, while in Bukha and Lima there will be a workshop, photography contest and open day.
